U-Part Wig & Invisible Part Protective Style

I've been doing soo much to my hair lately that I felt like I just wanted to tuck it all away and give it a rest. For the past month or so I've been wearing installs where I would leave a small portion of the top middle area out for blending purposes. Unfortunately, I've been finding it difficult to blend my natural hair with the hair selection that I installed in my hair. Not only that, in May I colored my hair and its been hell on wheels to find hair to match. So to avoid all the hair drama, I decided to to braid all my hair up, customize myself a u-part wig and the add an invisible part. This way I don't have to worry about blending, humidity, rain, etc.

For this install I used the Model Model Equal Premium Integration hair in the Pretty Curl pattern in length 18". Being that I was crafting a wig I used 3 packs of hair which retails for $9.99/pk. Why is it so inexpensive? Well the hair is of synthetic fibers mixed with human hair. You can use heat on this hair but only up to 400 degree Fahrenheit. I sewed the wefts onto a mens spandex dome cap, and used bonding glue to do the invisible part. This is a great inexpensive way to create the look of a full head install, protect your hair underneath and still be able to take it off easily to care for your hair underneath.

I'll be wearing this protective style for the next month. That is if I can fight off the urge to try something else, lol.  For more information on my u-part wig & invisible part or pricing contact me at GoDivaGlam@gmail.com or you can inbox me at www.Facebook.com/GoDivaGlam .

Say No More to Heat Damage

If you're a relaxed diva or a naturalista excessive heat styling can be extremely damaging. I know how easy it can be to become a slave to your flatiron, curling iron, and or blow dryer but I urge you to slow down on the heat styling. Personally I try to spread out the use of heat on my hair between months at a time if I'm wearing protective styles, or at least once a week if I'm wearing a straight style. Direct heat can be the catalyst to stop growth retention, sucks all the moisture from your hair, and rips the protein structure from your hair. Didn't know you were doing all that did you?

Here are some tips to keep your hair in tip top shape if you're going to using heat styling tools:

1. Prepare your hair for heat straightening process. Two weeks before you decide to use heat to straighten your hair do at least three deep conditioning treatments under a hooded dryer (or a plastic cap & wool hat. Your body eat creates and internal hair dryer), and weekly light protein treatments leading up to the week you desire to straighten your hair.

2. Go hard on adding moisture to your hair 2 weeks prior to heat styling.

3. The day you decide to straighten your hair wash your hair with a protein/moisture pre-shampoo treatment (pre-poo). This is not done under heat!

4. Don't get lazy and skip your weekly protein treatment days when you straighten your hair.

5. Always and I mean always perform a deep conditioning treatment after you pre-poo, cleanse the hair, and add a protein treatment.

6. Before applying any heat to your hair make sure you apply a heat protectant to your strands. Heat protectants are filled with silicone which coats the hair like a barrier between the heating tools and your hair.

7. Last but not least avoid at all cost redirecting heat to your everyday to touch it up. Maintain your straight style by wrapping it up with a silk scarf, silk bonnet, and rolling them on rollers/flexi rods.

If you have questions on any of the terms you may be confused about comment below and I'll be glad to respond to you.

3 Cremes for Perfect Coils

Now that the weather is a lot warmer of course your hair routine must changes. Nobody wants to be bothered with thermal styling to achieve straight looks if you're a naturalista. This is the time to be uber proud of your bountiful head of curls. I found it easy to wear twist outs in during these hotter days especially with some of my staple curling cremes.

1. Cantu Shea Butter Leave In Conditioning Repair Cream
This conditioner is a deep penetrating leave in repair conditioner that works wonders for a twist out. By applying this product you are also adding moisture to your hair which is a must for naturals. Moisture, moisture, moisture is the name of the game when it comes to growing a healthy head of hair.

2. Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie
This conditioners puts the A in AMAZING! It's packed with organic ingredients such as shea butter, mango seed butter, coconut oil, avocado oil, carrot seed oil, and Vitamin E oil. These are all essential oils to promote growth and feed the scalp. When using this conditioner / hair dress you'll notice the moisture your hair will get, how shiny it looks, and how bouncy the curls are.

3. Aloe Vera Gel
Throw away that big tub of black gel under the bathroom cabinet and replace it with Aloe Vera Gel. As a naturalista Aloe Vera Gel should be a main staple and never missing from the product list. It aids in healing heat damage, provides control without making the hair stiff, and it emphasizes your curl pattern. As a bonus you can also use it on your face as a natural astringent if you have oily skin.

I don't know where I'd be without these 3 products I swear by when I want to achieve perfects coils. How do you ensure you get perfect coils? What are some of the products you're using?

Rockin Curls

I just love wearing curls in my hair. It's like the bigger the better, so I decided to do an Full Head Install rockin some major curl action and volume. For this install I used 1 pack of FreeTress Equal Double Weave. The great thing about this hair is that it's $19.99 a pack and its 1 complete style in a pack. That means the pack is divided between 12'', 14'', 16'', and 18", and it was more than enough hair.

                                                              FreeTress Equal Double Weave
                                                                              Beach Curl
                                                                                 $19.99

This hair is synthetic and is curling iron safe up to 400 F. But to be honest, even though it says curling iron safe up to 400 F my curling iron on the lowest temperature was too hot for it. Just be careful with that. Other than that the hair if FAB!!!!

Lace Fronts Done Right: Vivica Fox Collection "Goldie-V"

Lace Front units have been getting a bad wrap. I think a large reason why is because women are not applying them correctly which makes them look hideous. I see women gluing them down on their face, pasting unrealistic looking baby hair down their edges. Let's face it everybody doesn't have baby hair like TLC's Chilli. LOL, instead I'll tell you how I apply my Lace Front units and make them look Au natural.

In the picture above I'm wearing "Goldie-V" a Lace Front unit from the Vivica Fox Collection. This unit is synthetic with the ability to use heat up to a certain degree. You can curl it and wash it. I love the natural layers that are already cut into the unit and well as the versatility. Now because I don't glue my unit down I can still properly care for my hair underneath. How i apply my unit is I cut the lace really close so there is no lace viewable and pull a little bit of my hairline out sometimes. I Other times I don't have to because the hairline on the unit has a natural shape.

I loved this unit so much that I have worn it in black also.

What are some of your experiences with Lace Front units?
